Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Barry Urban District Council, later Barry Municipal Borough Council, acquired educational powers over elementary education as a 'Part III authority' under the Education Act 1902, taking over many of the functions of the former School Boards. The Education Committee and Education Department were removed in 1945 and replaced by the District Education Sub-Committee of Glamorgan County Council 1945-1946 until education powers were devolved to the Barry Divisional Executive in 1946.
