Scope and Content

Deeds and documents, mainly relating to premises in the parish of Llangelynnin, Merionethshire, and to properties in the town of Barmouth, Merionethshire, 1731-1893.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Venerable Henry Williams (fl. 1909-1960], Archdeacon of Merioneth, was ordained in 1909. He served as curate in Ynyscynhaiarn and Llanaber, Caernarfonshire, and Llandysilio with Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll, Anglesey, became rector of Cynnal, Merionethshire, vicar of Nefyn, Caernarfonshire, and rector of Llanfairfechan, Caernarfonshire. He was Archdeacon of Merionethshire, in the diocese of Bangor, between 1953 and 1959, and vicar of Arthog, Merionethshire, 1953-1956, and acquired a collection of deeds and documents relating to the nearby parishes of Llangelynnin, Merionethshire, and Barmouth, Merionethshire. He became vicar of Abererch, Caernarfonshire, in 1956, and in 1959 he retired to Llandudno.
