Banbury Blue Coat School was founded in 1705 and was located in rooms over the town gaol. They remained there until 1817 when the new National School opened and they took on the education of the Blue Coat School children. This arrangement was consolidated in 1913 when the endowments of both schools were placed under one foundation. The school was later renamed St Mary's Primary School, whilst the Blue Coat Charity still exists and makes educational grants to the school. Please see P432/6/Y2/1-3 for further plans of this school.
