Administrative / Biographical History

In 1890 the works were established at Burry Port, Carmarthenshire by Lord Ashburnham, Messrs. W. Bevan (Chairman), D. Griffiths (Manager) and others. However in 1896 the works closed down. In 1898 the works were purchased by Thomas Bowen and Company. The Ashburnham Tinplate Company was registered in 1915 and began to operate the works. In 1939 the works were acquired by the Llanelly Associated Tinplate Companies Limited and ceased to trade as a separate company.
