Administrative / Biographical History

The Bailey's Arms is situated in the district known as Miskin. David Davies, blacksmith and publican, died in 1899, leaving the tenancy of the Bailey's Arms to his (fourth) wife, Mary Davies. John Masters, his son-in-law (married to daughter Catherine Jane) took over as tennant in 1892, and remained at the pub until his retirement in 1911, when John Edwin Davies (Mary Davies' second son) took over. Valuations were carried out at the beginning and end of his tenancy. The pub was sold to the Rhondda Valley & Ely Breweries Ltd, in 1921.
