Administrative / Biographical History

The date of the founding of this school on Mill Lane is uncertain, but the 1927 Kelly's Directory refers to a Mixed Council School for 100 children in Warmsworth, under Miss Ida Newby, Mistress. The 1917 Directory, however, makes no reference to this school, thus indicating that it may have been opened some time between these two dates. In 1978 it became a Middle School under the administrative control of Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council, taking pupils from Warmsworth First School, also on Mill Lane and Warmsworth St Peter's Church of England First School on Stapleton Road (see SR109). In September 1994, the First and Middle Schools on Mill Lane were amalgamated to form Warmsworth Primary School for children aged between 4 and 12 years.
