Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The Cankrien family had property in Molescroft just outside Beverley in the East Riding of Yorkshire and they benefitted from enclosure awards 1801-1803. The main proprietor in Molescroft in the 1830s was John Christopher Cankrien, who lived in Anlaby. He held rights to tithes and property such as Brimley Close, later sold to developers. Many of the title deeds in the collection relate to John Christopher Cankrien.
