Scope and Content

The Townswomen's Guild Movement was formed as a result of the granting of Universal Suffrage in 1928 to help women in towns and cities manage their new freedoms. The objects of the Guilds was to advance the education of women and encourage contributions towards the common good. The Henley Guild was one of the earliest to begin in 1933 and celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2003. The Henley Townswomen's Guild was disbanded in 2007.

The material was desposited as Acc 5906 in November 2009. Catalogued by Alison Smith in March 2014.
