Administrative / Biographical History

This school, built at the top of Sandford Road, was opened in 1885 as a mixed school. In 1908, a new school was opened in King Edward Road, adjacent to the Balby Victoria Infants School, as a Senior Mixed Provided School. With the opening of new schools on Oswin Avenue in 1913, the school became Balby Central Boys School, later renamed King Edward Road Council School. In 1930 it became Balby Junior Boys School, and with the admission of girls in 1939, the Balby Junior Mixed School. The Junior School closed in 1981.
