Papers of: Monckton, Edward Henry Cradock (1812-1878)

Collections of chemical and alchemical recipes, chiefly translated from Hindi; also one book of notes on farming (MS.3613).

Edward Henry Cradock Monckton was born in 1812. He worked for the East India Company in Bengal before retiring to Fineshade Abbey in Northamptonshire. He died in 1878.

The material is held in chronological order of composition, so far as can be established.

The papers are available subject to the usual conditions of access to Archives and Manuscripts material, after the completion of a Reader's Undertaking.

Purchased 1920 (accession numbers 40324-40342).
