Scope and Content

Records relating to the Oxford district and branch organisations of the national Co-operative Women's Guild. The Guild was founded in 1883 as an independent social and political organisation for women, an auxiliary organisation of the Co-operative movement. Originally titled the Women’s League for the Spread of Co-operation, the organisation changed its name in 1885 to the Women’s Co-operative Guild and in the mid 1960s to the Co-operative Women’s Guild. The national organisation was dissolved in June 2016.

These records were deposited along with Oxford Co-operative Society archives (ref: B39) by the Midcounties Co-operative Society in March 2015 as accession 6360.

Catalogued by Katherine Kinrade in November 2017.
