Scope and Content

Deeds and documents, mostly relating to cos Ang. and Mer. Several items relate to the Lloyd family of Dduallt, Ffestiniog, co. Mer., 1551-1740. The collection also includes overseer's accounts and other parochial records relating to the parish of Llandyfrydog, co. Ang., 1828-1869.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Venerable E. G. (Evan Gilbert) Wright (1903-1994), Archdeacon of Bangor, Anglican minister and antiquarian, purchased a collection of documents from J. E. (John Edwards) Griffith (1843-1933), author of 'Pedigrees of Caernarfonshire and Anglesey Families' (1914), relating to the Lloyd family of Dduallt, Ffestiniog, Merionethshire, possibly as part of his research into Humphrey Humphreys, 1648-1712, Bishop of Bangor, whose daughter married into a Lloyd family and who held land in Ffestiniog. He also purchased some overseer's accounts and parochial records for the parish of Llandyfrydog, Anglesey. These seem to be unconnected to his research or to his incumbencies at Llangefni, Anglesey (as curate), Gaerwen, Anglesey (as rector, 1939-1945), St David's, Bangor, Caernarfonshire (as vicar, 1945-1962), or as Archdeacon for Bangor.
