Scope and Content

This collection of papers relating to the Shotover Preservation Society was deposited in July 1985 on permanent loan by the retiring secretary of the Society. It was allocated the accession number 2424.

The collection consists mainly of reports into various management plans for Shotover and the Oxford and Oxfordshire Districts. The Society was established in 1974 in responce to a public inquiry in 1973 into Oxford City Council's Country Park proposal for Shotover, and monitors plans and proposals likely to affect the environment around Shotover and to make recommendations to relevant bodies with regard to this.

The Society was mainly responsible for establishing the Shotover Consultative Committee to advise Oxford City Council on the management of Shotover.
