Administrative / Biographical History
The Williams family owned Skreen in the parish of Llandeilo Graban, Radnorshire, from at least 1576. The family were still in possession of the estate in 1781. Velin Newydd in the parish of Llandyfalle, Breconshire, was owned by the Thomas family since at least 1589. Sometime in the second half of the seventeenth century the Velin Newydd estate was acquired by the Williams family of Skreen.
