Administrative / Biographical History

Collection: Margaret E. Hughes (d. 2018) formerly of Amlwch, Anglesey.

Her parents were Alderman Gwilym Rees Evans and Edith Mona Evans; they lived at Craigwen, Bull Bay Road, Amlwch, and owned Manchester House, Amlwch, drapers. She accumulated a large collection of photographs, publications, ephemera and correspondence concerning the Amlwch area, including social life, genealogy of Amlwch families and maritime matters. John Rowland Jones of Amlwch became a captain in the Royal Navy, serving on HMS Grafton, HMS Factolus, HMS Wallington and HMS Satellite in the First World War.
