Administrative / Biographical History
Donald Lowson McDiarmid was born on the 4th of April 1930 . He attended the University of Glasgow, Scotland, between the years of 1948-1952 to study for a Mechanical Engineering degree. In his first year he took classes in Mathematics, Natural Philosophy, Chemistry and Engineering Drawing. His second year consisted of classes in Mathematics II, General Engineering and Engineering Drawing II. In his third year he studied Applied Mechanics II, Electrical Engineering II, Heat Engineering II, Engineering Design, Engineering Production and Higher Natural Philosophy. For his final year, McDiarmid undertook classes in Mechanics III, Heat Engineering III, Mechanical Engineering Design, and Aeronautics. McDiarmid graduated with a BSc in 1952 . He went on to become a senior lecturer at City University, London.
