The MG Car Company Ltd was set up in a factory on property belonging to Pavlova Leather Company in Abingdon in 1929, to take over the production of MG cars from Morris Garages Ltd of Oxford. In 1935 MG was sold to Morris Motors Limited, and in 1968 British Leyland became the parent company. The factory continued to produce cars until its closure in 1980.
This collection was deposited on permanent loan in October 1981, as accession 1970. Further records of the company are held at the Modern Records Centre of the University of Warwick Library.
