Elizabeth Glover was born in Glasgow in 1907. She attended the University of Glasgow from 1925-1929  , taking classes in English, French and Latin in her first year, English, French, Latin and Italian in her second, and English (Junior Honours), Moral Philosophy (Higher) and Logic (Higher) in her third and Italian and Geology in her fourth and final year. She was awarded a second class certificate in English (Ordinary) in 1926 and a certificate of Merit in Italian (Ordinary) in 1929. She graduated with an MA in Nov 1929  and subsequently became a tutor in Lancashire. She returned briefly to the University of Glasgow from 1931-1932  to study Logic and Metaphysics.
