Scope and Content

Blackthorn is a hamlet in the parish of Ambrosden. These records were deposited in 1971 and assigned the Accession Number 951. The deposit also included many parish records for Ambrosden, which concerned the administration of Blackthorn. These papers were originally catalogued as Blackthorn, but in 1995 the decision was taken to list the parish papers with PAR7 (papers of Ambrosden parish).

Blackthorn I/1 is now PC7A/A1/1; Blackthorn II/i/1 is PC7A/1D/1; and Blackthorn II/ii/1-2 are PC7A/2D/1-2. A comparative table at the end of PAR7 lists the new references for material from this collection transferred there.

What remains in PC 7A is a Parish Council Minute Book, and three 16th and 17th cent. deeds relating to manorial rights in Blackthorn. The early history of the deeds is unknown, and they are

therefore listed here.

Recatalogued in June 1995 by Robin Darwall-Smith.
