Personal notes on Neath Peace Society and Neath Mechanics' Institute. Neath Peace Society was founded in the mid 19th century by Joseph Tregellis Price (1784-1855). Neath Mechanics' Institute was founded in 1843 with the aim of improving the education of young working-class men who worked during the day and normally had little access to education. Evening classes were held twice a week by volunteers and a library was established.
