Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The Quadrant Shopping Centre was built as a shopping arcade in the centre of Swansea in the mid-1970s, housing retail premises arranged around a cross-shaped pedestrian walkway, with the city's central bus station at the western end. It was constructed on an area that had formerly been a combination of terraced housing and business premises, which included Garden Street, Nelson Terrace, Greenfield Street and Wassail Street. The achitects for the development were Building Design Partnership (BDP) who were employed for the purpose by Swansea City Council form 1973 to 1991.
