In 1970 Glamorgan County Council made proposals for the closure of Cowbridge Boys' Grammar School and Girls' High School. N E Williams, at the time a member of Cowbridge Borough Council, together with his wife led opposition to the proposals and organised a petition against them. N E Williams was a member of Cowbridge Borough Council.
