Scope and Content

Pastel drawing of Sylvia Pankhurst, a young woman, head only, looking straight at the viewer. The pastel is in yellow, brown and white on a light blue background, which has some pencil markings to suggest an intension to cut it down. The blue paper has been cut down by hand so the edges are not straight, and mounted on cream card.

Note: Sylvia Pankhurst died in 1960, so it must have been done from a photograph or other source.

Physical Characteristics and/or Technical Requirements

Small splashed grey marking centre right and other small markings, dirty grey smudge bottom left corner (mounting card), the glue used to mount the blue paper has turned brown in two places along the bottom edge. Tears along the top edge of the mounting card, and the surface has been taken off when sticky tape was removed, leaving patches of brown paper behind.
