One of the first things the Oxford Regional Hospital Board did was to set up a Medical Advisory Committee to advise on medical aspects of policy and administration. Specialists were called on to serve on various Sub Committees, and reports of these sub committees were sent to the Joint Medical Advisory Committee for consideration.
The Joint Medical Advisory Committee was made up of representatives of the Oxford Regional Hospital Board and the Board of Governors of the United Oxford Hospitals. The Joint Medical Advisory Committee was replaced by a Medical Advisory Committee in March 1970.
The last meeting of the Medical Advisory Committee was 5th March 1974, after which it was replaced by the Regional Medical Advisory Council. See catalogue reference H5/2 for minutes of the Regional Medical Advisory Council.
