Scope and Content

Collection includes concert programmes, competition adjudicator notes, personal correspondence, professional photographs of William Venables, Cissie Jones and Frank Nicholson.

William Venables was a professional singer who performed with the Imperial Quartet. This consisted of Hilda Roberts (Soprano), Lena Griffith (Contralto), William Venables (Tenor), Frank Nicholson (Baritone) and (Accompanist) Edith Darbyshire. They performed at concerts in Llandudno's Pier Pavilion and at other locations in Wales and England. William Venables also competed in musical competitions and was winner of First Prizes at Blackpool Festival in 1924 and 1928.
