Administrative / Biographical History
This school opened on 28 September 1925 as Armthorpe New Village Council School (Mixed Department) in temporary accommodation with 107 children and three teaching staff. From 2 May 1927 the school became solely for junior girls (see SR51/1/1 page 19) until it closed in June 1929 with the girls transferring to the new Senior Mixed and Junior Girls schools. For records of Armthorpe Junior Girls school see catalogue SR49 and for Armthorpe Senior Mixed School and Armthorpe Secondary Modern Girls School (see catalogues SR46 and SR47 respectively).
