Administrative / Biographical History

The Falkland Island Dependencies Survey (FIDS) saw the administrative responsibilities for stations established during Operation Tabarin taken over by the Colonial Office. The Governor of the Falkland Islands assumed responsibility in 1948. This was the forerunner of the British Antarctic Survey (BAS)
