Book of minutes and resolutions of the monthly and other meetings of the Copper Trade Association at the Copper Office, Castle Baynard, London 1824-1829; Morfa New Works account book 1834-1835; Taibach Copper Works cash book 1838-1942; dissertation (in German) on the scientific analysis of copper-smelting, submitted by Hugh Vivian for an engineering diploma c1910.

Administrative / Biographical History

Hugh Vivian was born in Portugal in 1884. His father was William Vivian, a mining engineer in Portugal. Hugh went to school in England but later studied engineering and metallurgy in Germany. In 1909 he was made Technical Director of the Vivian and Sons copper smelting business in Swansea. In 1922 he became Managing Director. Hugh Vivian was also a member of the Governing Body of the University of Wales and the National Museum of Wales.
