Teaching Tapes 1974-1979

Recordings including narrative history of Dan Lewis, school-teacher; The Spanish Communities of Dowlais and Abercrave, edited extracts of interviews with individuals concerning the Spanish communities in these townships (there are two copies of this); Industrial West Wales : A Bilingual Society, edited extracts of interviews with individuals concerning the coal pits, mainly situated around the Onllwyn and Cwmtwrch communities. The recordings were made in the period 1974-1979 but cover the period 1900-1980 (c) in subject matter.

During the period 1974-1979 teaching tapes were compiled by the Department of Extra-Mural Studies at Swansea University for use in education. They were largely compiled from interviews recorded as part of the First South Wales Coalfield Project 1972-1974.
