Administrative / Biographical History

John Aitken was born on 11 June 1907. He was an engineering student at the University of Glasgow and studied at the Royal Technical College from 1924-1928. In his first year, 1924-1925, he studied Natural Philosophy, Maths and Engineering Drawing. The following year he took Maths II, General Engineering and Engineering Drawing. In his third year he studied Mechanics II, Geology, Civil Engineering and Civil Engineering Design. In his final year, 1927-1928, Aitken studied Civil Engineering II, Civil Engineering Design & Drawing II, Surveying and Mechanics II. He graduated BSc in 1929 and worked as a Civil Engineer.
