Administrative / Biographical History

The papers of Myrddyn Bevan-Evans (1905-1980) reflect all aspects of his life and career, from his education at Llandovery College and Oxford University and his literary efforts, to his work as a librarian in the Flintshire County Library during the Second World War, and as the first Flintshire County Archivist (1951-67). He played an important role in the reformation of the Flintshire Historical Society in 1950-1, and supervised several excavations on behalf of the society in the 1950s and 1960s. He also pioneered the study of industrial archaeology in North Wales. After his retirement, he continued to lecture widely, and conducted many WEA and extra-mural classes on the archaeology and history of Flintshire.
