Scope and Content

Typescript drafts of published and broadcast short stories by James Hanley, comprising 'What became of Fairfax?' (ff. 1-5, broadcast 1957); a fragment from The Darkness (London, 1973) (ff. 6-16); a fragment (ff. 17-27) related to No Directions (London, 1943) which was re-written as a novel, A Dream Journey (London, 1976) (see also MS 21230E); 'The Sea', 'Fog' and 'A Ship in the Snow' (ff. 47-79), which were published in Half an Eye (London, 1937) but retyped [?1970s]; together with typescript and autograph drafts of 'Made Flesh' (ff. 28-46, published in The Guardian, May 1978).
