Scope and Content

Box file labelled "Pakistan / Bangladesh Sundries correspondence with subordinate staff" includes loose papers regarding;

  • Photocopy of personal experiences during the Bangladesh liberation war 1971;
  • File labelled "HPC Bangladesh and Pakistan reports" includes a full report to the board on the damage caused to the tea estates by the hostilities 1972;
  • Loose papers compromising of correspondence and live situation reports during 1971. Items show companies' efforts to maintain pay for displaced workers. James Finlay documents working with the British Government and Embassy to evacuate British / European nationals. Reports on the local political situation and updates on refugees 1970-1972.
