Blackie & Son (Australasia) Ltd was formed in 1926 as a subsidiary of Blackie & Son Ltd , publishers, Bishopbriggs, Glasgow, Scotland. The Gresham Publishing Co Ltd , London, another subsidiary of Blackie & Son Ltd, had a large trade in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, as well as in New Zealand yet had no office of their own and was not registered in Australia. Blackie & Son (Australasia) Ltd was formed to oversee the Gresham trade. By 1950 the company had ceased trading although the company name was kept on in Australia due to its reputation.
