Administrative / Biographical History

Delta-T Devices specialises in instruments for environmental science, in particular: agronomy, plant physiology, eco-physiology, data logging, meteorology, soil moisture, solar energy studies and environmental monitoring.

Founded in Cambridgeshire in 1971 as a sole trader operation, Delta-T initially operated out of barns attached to land being used for communal living. It became a three person partnership in 1975, and a workers' co-operative in 1982. Through the 1980s and 1990s Delta-T grew and developed, setting up social provisions for staff such as a crèche

Delta-T Devices is a co-operative company, owned and managed by the members who work within it.

The collection is open to any accredited reader, subject to the requirements of the Data Protection Act 2018.

Acquisition Information

In October 2017, the National Co-operative Archive published a call-out for historic materials within the wider worker co-op community for Working Together , an Heritage Lottery Funded project seeking to record and preserve the heritage of the worker co-operative moment. This material was deposited by a member of Delta T in response to this call out.
