Scope and Content

Contents: A volume containing Forbes' qualitative and qualitative analyses of miscellaneous chemical compounds and natural products. The volume is not dated, but references to works cited in it indicate that it might have been compiled in the 1840s, as does the presence of notes of lectures attended by Forbes at the University of Edinburgh. It is not clear whether Forbes undertook this analytical work when he was at Edinburgh or in the period after he left the University. The purpose for which these analyses was undertaken is unclear. Much of the volume is unused, and folios between 297 and 334 have been removed.
