The Reverend R. Meirion Roberts (1906-1967), was a minister and army chaplain. He was born in Llandrillo, Merionethshire, the son of Robert and Catherine Roberts. He began to preach in 1924 and was ordained in 1933, then went on to serve as minister of Penuel, Ebbw Vale (1933-1937), and St. David's, Belmont, Shrewsbury (1937-1938). Roberts then became a tutor in philosophy and psychology at Coleg Harlech (1938-1940). He served as an army chaplain between 1940 and 1958, with a period as minister of the Welsh Church in Laird St, Birkenhead, England (1946-1952). He joined the Presbyterian Church in 1958 and was minister of Applegarth parish and Sinaldie, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. In 1933 he married Daisy Harper of Llanrwst and they had two sons and three daughters. Roberts also contributed articles on philosophy and theology to a number of journals including Yr Efrydydd, Efrydiau Athronyddol, Y Traethodydd, Y Llenor and Y Drysorfa. He also wrote poetry and his work was published in some of the above titles and in his published volumes Plant y Llawr (1946) and Amryw ganu (1965).
