Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
A note at the front of the log book written by the head teacher in 1932 records that the Auckley Board School was opened on 5th October 1876. The minute book of this school board can also be found at Doncaster Archives (ref. SB/3). School Boards were abolished after the 1902 Education Act was passed and the school continued to provide elementary education under the control of the West Riding County Council. The minute books of the Bawtry Education District Sub-Committee of the West Riding County Council, the area into which Auckley fell, can be found at Doncaster Archives (ref. SD/4). Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council administered the school from 1 April 1974.
The School was known as Auckley County Primary School up to 26 November 1973, and then as Auckley Junior and Infant School.
