Letter from E.H. Smith of the Rectory, Barton-le-Street, Malton to Miss Heath 6 November [c.1943-1945] regarding the War Damage Scheme, a national scheme under which those parishes who escaped war damage helped parishes that suffered (2 pages)

Administrative / Biographical History

E.H. Smith was appointed Rector of Barton le Street near Malton in 1929. Reverend Smith had previously served at Ryhill, near Wakefield. The rectory was in the patronage of Edward Wood, Baron Irwin, later 1st Earl of Halifax.

The letter was gifted to the Borthwick Institute in 2013.
