Legal Papers

This series contains deeds and papers from George Crombie, solicitor.

At the time of the deposit of the company records at the Borthwick, one box was found to contain legal papers relating to H.I. Rowntree and Co. and Rowntree and Co. (including the formation of the limited company), c. 1876 - 1913. The 'undisturbed' appearance of these records suggests that they were transferred from the office of George Crombie, perhaps shortly after 1913, and kept together, unsorted, ever since.
