Administrative / Biographical History

Archibald Walker Sloan was a medical student at the University of Glasgow , Scotland from 1935  . He graduated BSc in 1937  , MB ChB in 1940  and MD with Honours and the Bellahouston Medal in 1955  . He was a member of teaching staff at the University of Glasgow from 1948-1959, and then went on to complete his PhD at the University of Cape Town in 1966  . He was then a Professor of Physiology at the University of Cape Town until his retirement in 1980. He also holds the qualifications of FRCP (Glasgow), MRCP (London) and FRS (South Africa).
