Administrative / Biographical History

Born on 10 June 1932 in Blackpool and educated at Nottingham University and Birmingham University, Peter Crampton followed his father into teaching. After teaching in Coventry, Birmingham and Uganda he took up a lectureship at Hull College of Higher Education, in 1989 he became MEP for Humberside and spent ten years in the post. Crampton played a key role in nuclear disarmament and was Chairman of the European Nuclear Disarmament Campaign from 1984-1986. He was devoted to Human Rights issues and championed Humberside's fishing and farming industries. He passed away on the 12 July 2011.
