Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
David Birrell Campbell was born on 30 August 1964 in Helensburgh, Dumbartonshire, Scotland, the son of James Campbell, a publisher. He matriculated into the medical faculty at the University of Glasgow , Scotland in 1887 . In his first year he studied Chemistry, Zoology, and Anatomy. His second year studies consisted of Surgery, Physiology, and senior Anatomy. In third year he studied Materia Medica, Pathology, Medicine, and Practical Anatomy. In his fourth year he studied Surgery, and Midwifery. He graduated MB CM in 1892 .
His son, James Gibson Campbell, also studied medicine at the University of Glasgow , graduating in 1920 with MB ChB (see related material).
