Acquisition Information

The two volumes of astronomical tables were presented to the Royal Astronomical Society in 1845 by Rev. Charles Turnor FRS FRAS. His family purchased Woolsthorpe Manor four years after the death of its owner, Sir Isaac Newton. Turnor developed a great interest in the works of Newton, and collected many artefacts related to him, including a bust of Newton which he donated to the Royal Astronomical Society.
