Scope and Content

Papers that relate to literary output of Philip Mackie. The majority of items are typewritten scripts used in the production of TV programmes or films, but also included are notes and letters relating to these works and to his plays and novels.

Administrative / Biographical History

Philip Mackie (born Salford, Lancashire, on 26 November 1918 and died Swindon, Wiltshire, on 23 December 1985) was a British film and television screenwriter. His works include The Caesers, Raffles, Mr Rose, The Naked Civil Servant and more. The Philip Mackie Collection was donated to Solent University in 2006 and comprises scripts, notes, personal letters and diaries (often with annotations by hand).

Arrangement

The literary papers are loose and unbound screenplays organised in boxes.
