Created under the Local Government Act 1894 and superseded that part of the Bradfield Rural Sanitary Authority which was in Oxfordshire. Under the Oxfordshire Review Order 1932, the Goring Rural District was abolished and all parishes transferred to Henley Rural District. Full details of parishes and boundary changes within the district can be found in F A Youngs Guide to the Local Administrative Units of England: Southern England (Vol 1). In common with other rural and urban district councils, amongst its many responsibilities, Goring RDC was responsible for public health, housing, rating, planning, building regulations, water supplies, sewerage and some roads. The collection was originally catalogued as Goring RDC (accession number 1551). Re-catalogued by Chris Gilliam, Della Fredericks & Maria Morris with additional records from accession numbers 1551 & 5915. Date completed: January 2012.
