Administrative / Biographical History

George Grant Francis was born in Swansea in 1814. A prominent figure in the cultural and political life of Swansea, he was FSA of London and Scotland, Vice president of the Royal Institution of South Wales and Mayor of Swansea 1853-4. He helped to form the Cambrian Archaeological Society.
