This collections consists of the records of four different chemists in Oxford. Hitchcock and Sons later Hitchcock and Co were located on High Street moving to 108 High Street in 1875 and remaining there until 1905. The business was then taken over by Dolbear and Goodall Ltd 1906-1937, and was finally owned by Savory and Moore 1939-1975. Additionally there are also records of George Prior, Chemist of 32 Broad Street, now the Indian Institute. As these were deposited with the records of 108 High Street they have been catalogued together. The records mostly consist of prescription books detailing names of customers and what they were prescribed covering the period 1850-1961 with gaps.
The records were deposited as Acc 673 in , Acc 698 in and Acc 1462 in Jan 1978 and originally catalogued as Savory . Reatalogued by Alison Smith in May 2017.
