Scope and Content

Norman Estlin William Bradyll Johnson was curate of Oxford St Clement's from 1923 to 1926. He was a student at Oriel College, Oxford, and obtained his B.A. in 1920. He held a number of posts in various dioceses, including Rural Dean of Lewisham 1944-1962, Honorary Canon of Southwark 1952-1967 and Canon Emeritus from 1967. He carried out this survey with the object of providing information which would help to create the informed public opinion necessary before any widespread housing reforms could be carried out.

This survey was presented to Oxford City Council in September 1964 and was subsequently held by the Centre for Oxfordshire Studies, where it was given the reference MISC/JOH/1-2. It was

deposited here in 1993 and given the accession number 3612.
