Contains, in the main, information on John Rushout, 2nd Lord Northwick’s collecting activities and the subsequent dispersal of his impressive collection when he died intestate. Much of the collection was purchased posthumously by his nephew, George Rushout, 3rd Baron Northwick, but sales continued into the 20th century. Includes numerous catalogues, articles and notes concerning the collection and its movements, as well as Lord Northwick’s estates of Thirlestaine House, Cheltenham and Northwick Park, Gloucestershire. Sometimes referred to as Thirlestane House, this catalogue will henceforth use the modern spelling Thirlestaine. In addition, although Northwick Park is now designated as being in Gloucestershire, prior to 1931 it was considered to be a small enclave of Worcestershire; this is reflected in the titles of some articles.
